PAST
Design has been well and truly ingrained into my life since a very early age. Brought up in the 8-bit video games era, I was highly influenced by many of the games and their associated iconography. Another major early influence for me was the study of Egyptian art with particular emphasis on hieroglyphics and mythology.
Starting college was one of the most important aspects of my education which spurred me on to university where I studied design in a broad context involving the creation of 2D and 3D works with a mix of media types.
After completing my PGCE through Hudderfield University, I was employed as a music technology lecturer by the college I had previously trained at. I later became program leader for music technology and interactive media courses covering a range of disciplines from concept drawing to creating sound for moving image.
From 2006 to 2009, I worked along-side a jazz musician/producer under the alias ‘SoulBasics’ releasing a number of tracks on UK and international record labels with appearances on Hed Kandi’s ‘Beach House 4’ and 'Bargrooves Azure' compilation CDs. From thereon, as a solo producer, I produced numerous remixes for other artists on the house music scene, released 3 singles and an EP.
PRESENT
The establishment of Pixl Clouds Ltd has been a long awaited career move for me since working as an instructional designer at Durham University. I have worked on numerous client-led projects from video production to interactive animation and e-learning training packages. I also have a knowledge of in the use of gamification techniques for distance learning purposes.
Outside of project-based work, I am continuously enhancing the Pixl Clouds portfolio within the areas of animation, 3D illustration, video editing and web design.
